on my mind at the moment

One of the bonuses of going to see an awesome Synchronized Swimming performance was that one group of girls did a routine to Radioactive.

That song has been infusing my ear-worm-y impulses for what feels like ages, mostly because it's the freaking catchiest pop song in the world.  Yes, yes, I know it's all apocalyptical-y, but something that sticks in your head that much?  Pop song.  Anyway, for a while now I have been stomping around doing huge swooping motions around the kitchen while I'm cooking singing, "I'm waking up, I feel it in my BONES,"  while the Mister leans in to the room to sing, "Enough to make my system blow!", etc., etc.

So it was great fun to spot the song on the program and then see these young women sculling around and splashing to the whole "WELCOME TO THE NEW AGE!" stuff (plus I bet they were so psyched when their coach let them pick the music, right?).  And it makes me happy in a nose-thumb-y way to the lead singer, who I've heard talk about the song several times emphasizing its "masculinity" -- because moments of forceful epiphany are only ever for MEN, right?  So I would kind of love to send him a clip of these awesome swimmers with their Knoxed hair and glittery make-up and pointed toes and precise little hand flicks nailing this fantastic routine to that damn song.

That is so awesome!

I remember when figure skating turned from heavy classical to contemporary music, and it was such a blossoming of possibilities.

I love Imagine Dragons but I've been actively avoiding learning anything about them as people because I suspect the Mormon stuff is unpleasant. Thank you for confirming it!

Oh man, I have seen mentions of their Mormonism, and I wonder how much that infuses their stuff. The statements about masculinity seemed very pointed, which I find annoying, but hard to tell how deeply their issues with that go.

OMG, I love this story. (And I love that song, too. SO. DAMN. CATCHY. I didn't know about the singer's misogyny, blergh. Someone SHOULD send him a clip of those girls!!)

It was so awesome, a huge crowd-pleaser! :D <3

Your icon, yes -- I am all foggy-headed today, so I definitely need everything to go to eleven.
