me and my magic box

I just spent fifteen minutes trying to figure out why my mousepad/cursor seemed to be totally frozen.

I won't lie -- there's nothing that can send me toward a potentially serious tizzy faster than a wifi breakdown that keeps me from online everything or a computer glitch that blocks me from getting to a story I'm writing.  And this, looking at the cursor not moving, seeing the little pointer frozen, was making me want to beat a fist down on the mousepad to force it to work.

Obviously this is not reasonable behavior; I get this!  I was explaining this and complaining to the mister about my dumb HULK SMASH! reaction to computer issues.  And he said, "Well, I don't blame you!  It's like everything that you care about is inside that magic box!"

Ahahahahaha, HE GETS ME, RIGHT???

ETA: As I was writing this, the rain came back (we've had off/on storming all day) pouring SO HARD outside, like sheeeeets of rain just flooom flooom flooom! falling to the ground!  I just now said to the mister, "This is amazing!"  And he said enthusiastically, "I know! I'm watching it on television!"  And lolol, HE WAS -- it was the weather map movement on one of our local channels.  My god, that is when you know you are getting older, right?  When you are excited to watch the weather LIVE ON TELEVISION!

No, you know you are old when you have to turn the TV all the way up to hear about the weather. While drinking Ensure.

Or when your son is in Prague and when he gets back he goes to college in his own car and OMG I AM PANICKING.

Uh. Sorry.

Omg, for a second when I read that too quickly I thought you were saying your son had gone to Prague to go to college in his own car and I was like, wait, no, this the wrong way to go to Prague-college!!!

*sets you up with some iced coffee and a slice of three-berry pie*

I'm chortling because he was watching it on tv *while* it was also happening outside the window. (Yeah, yeah, I get *perspective*. The weather channel can show things from *space*, but still. *g*)

Oh totally -- that's the joke!

What's worse than the watching weather on tv while it's happening way more excitingly out your window is dreaming about weather forecasts, which I did last night. *facepalm* But in my defense, we've been having a series of storms and I feel very protective of our new outside dining furniture. :D

Hi hi, nice to see you! *hands over a scone and some iced coffee*
